Naval Applications for VpCI® System

PROBLEM

Every four years the Croatian militray dry docks their ships for overhaul. The bow, stern, ship hull, electronics, weapons systems and internal void compartments showed corrosion upon dry docking. The customer needed an environmentally friendly and long term solution.

SOLUTION AND APPLICATION

Preservation of Hull:
Fogged VpCI®-309 powder into void spaces in hull and rudder for long term protection.

Weapons Systems:

  1. VpCI®-238 was applied to all electrical and electronic equipment.
  2. VpCI®-369 Lubricant / Heavy Duty Corrosion Inhibitor was used to protect unpainted parts of weapons.
  3. Electrical enclosures and weapon storage boxes were protected using VpCI®-105, emitters and VpCI®-238.

CONCLUSION

Upon completion of the ship overhaul and application of Cortec corrosion inhibiting products the ship will be launched into active duty. The ship will be inspected in regualr intervals to monitor the protective levels achieved.
