Army Applications for VpCI® System – Tank Engine Conservation

PROBLEM

A tank engine was removed and needed to be preped for long term storage before it would be needed for use in the future

SOLUTION AND APPLICATION

  1. The engine was cleaned and degreased with VpCI®-414 to prepare the engine for preservation.
  2. VpCI 2. ®-329 was poured into the oil system. M640L was added to the cooling system and VpCI®-705 was added to the fuel system. After running the engine for 60 minutes, the above mentioned systems were preserved. To protect the engine cylinders, and internal engine components a mixture of oil and VpCI®-329 was used. VpCI®-170 was applied to the air intake and exhaust systems (after engine was cooled). VpCI®- 238 was then sprayed on all electrial equipment and contacts.
  3. External components of engine were coated with 3. VpCI®-368M temporary liquid coating for outdoor, multi-metal protection.
  4. Engine was completely wrapped in vapor phase 4. corrosion inhibiting EcoWeave® woven polyethylene fabric providing superior strength and tear resistance
