When and how should precautions be taken to protect freshly polished components that may have to wait a few minutes, hours, or even days before moving on to the next stage in the manufacturing process?

- Keep VpCI® papers on hand to wrap or interleave components sitting in boxes or bins waiting for assembly or further work. CorShield® VpCI®-146 Paper, CorShield® VpCI®-146 Creped Paper, or EcoShield® VpCI®-144 Paper (with recyclable moisture barrier) are three great options that are all USDA Certified Biobased Products. These materials offer dry protection using Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitors that simply evaporate off the bearing when the paper is unwrapped—no extra cleaning or coating removal is required!
- Add EcoLine® Cutting Fluid (contains 64% USDA certified biobased content) to rinse water for protection during cleaning operations.
- Apply ready-to-use BioCorr® where a thin film rust preventative is needed. BioCorr® leaves behind a virtually undetectable dry film that is an excellent replacement for thick, messy rust-inhibiting oils. It contains 64% USDA certified biobased content.
- Where oily film rust preventative is desired, replace pure mineral-oil based rust preventatives with those that have biobased content. Some options are VpCI®-325 (partly vegetable-oil based), EcoLine® 3690 (contains 72% USDA certified biobased content), and EcoLine® 3220 (contains 99% USDA certified biobased content).
