If you’ve ever walked a warehouse yard in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Doha in July, you already know why corrosion protection in this region isn’t optional it’s survival. Between the heat, the humidity swings, the salt-laden coastal air, and long lead times for shutdowns and turnarounds, vessels sitting idle here face a very different threat level than equipment stored in milder climates.
Pressure vessels, reactors, columns, and storage tanks are expensive assets. When they’re waiting for commissioning, sitting through a turnaround, or held as critical spares, the last thing anyone wants is to open them up months later and find rust where there should be bare, ready-to-use metal.

Preservation isn’t install-and-forget. For long-duration storage, especially in coastal or offshore environments, periodic checks confirm the protective system is still intact and effective.
This approach has been applied across a wide range of regional projects from offshore platform equipment exposed to salt spray and sand, to large fabricated gas-to-liquid modules preserved for up to two years before commissioning, to critical spares stored in a warehouse near the sea. In each case, the same principle held true: preservation planned in advance is dramatically cheaper and more effective than corrosion cleanup after the fact.
