PROBLEM

Cortec® Advanced Films division owned a truck that needed protection. Due to the harsh climate of central Minnesota, and the extreme amount of deicing compounds used on the road, portions of the truck had corroded considerably.

APPLICATION

A team of Cortec® employees was asked to rehabilitate the truck and enhance its appearance. The areas in need of attention were the chrome wheel wells, the fifth wheel attachment/under carriage, the engine compart- ment, and the overall visual exterior of the truck.

CONCLUSION

The finished result was that corrosion was removed and parts were suitable for assembly, with added temporary rust protection. Using VpCI®-426 to remove corrosion on the vehicle and Bull Frog® Fast Wax for short-term protection, the wheels and body of the vehicle were restored to an almost new state. RawnTM Engine Degreaser cleaned the engine, and the undercarriage was coated with VpCI®- 386. The fifth wheel attachment and undercarriage was then coated with CorrVerter® and VpCI®-386 to give an attractive and resilient finish that will prohibit corrosion for years to come.
