PROBLEM
Uljahik Pula’s rudder and hull were experiencing corrosion due to condensation of moisture during prolonged periods at sea. High chloride levels, high relative humidity and frequent temperature changes all resulted in extensive corrosion of the hull’s internal surfaces. Uljahik Pula needed protection from further corrosion, carbonation and chemical attack. Conventional methods of corrosion protection such as paint could not be used because welding and other assembly operations could damage the surface. They needed a product that was easy to apply, easy to remove (if needed), cost effective, and that was not damaged by welding and other assembly operations.
APPLICATION
VpCI®-309 was fogged into the rudder cavities using a low pressure air hose and a sandblast cup. VpCI®-309 was used at the rate of 300 g/m3 (0.3 oz/ft3).
CONCLUSION
The customer was very satisfied with the benefits and results provided by Cortec’s VpCI®-309. VpCI®-309 was cost effective, and easy to use.
