Protection of V-6 Engines

PROBLEM

General Motors was shipping V-6 engines to Europe and needed to be confident in the quality of protection applied to their products. Previous solutions did not supply the complete level of corrosion protection needed for their parts.

APPLICATION

VpCI®-126 6 mil (152 microns) film was placed on the bottom of the engine cradle. Two VpCI®-131 foam strips were placed on either side of the engine. A VpCI®-126 6 mil gusseted bag fit over the engine and around the mounts. Excess film was pushed around the bottom of the engine.

CONCLUSION

The Cortec® products used provided the high level of quality corrosion protection GM has come to expect.
