Protection of Fuel Injection Parts

PROBLEM

Lucas needed to protect metal fuel injection parts from corrosion before plating. The parts would be stored for two weeks in a warehouse and shipping environment. Lucas Industries had previously been dipping their parts in mineral oil.

APPLICATION

Lucas used Cortec® VpCI®-101 for this application. The parts were stored in small boxes (approximately 100 parts to a box) with a VpCI®-101 attached to the top. The boxes with VpCI®-101 attached were reused until the VpCI® protection was exhausted.

CONCLUSION

Cortec® VpCI®-101 offers more effective and inexpensive protection. It required less labor and no clean up and reduced the overall cost of production.
