Preservation of Crude Oil & Gas Modules

Challenge

A company needed to preserve piping internals for Preassembled Modules (PAMs) for the Zadco’s UZ-750 project in UAE. Modules were fabricated onshore and sailed to the Zakum Islands for final fit up, requiring a preservation period of up to 2 years.

Application
VpCI®-337 was identified as the preferred product to unify across all modules as it provided long term multimetal protection.

After hydro testing, the client would drain and air blow water from the piping before fogging VpCI®-337  through the end of the piping module. The module was divided into test packs, where pipe ID and pipe run were known, the volume of piping was calculated and 1L/m3 was fogged to the system

Conclusion

Cortec and Texel were happy to support company in achieving effective preservation in harsh climatic conditions found in the Arabian Peninsular.
