PROBLEM

A manufacturer of office furniture shipping containers of chairs to Hong Kong and Singapore required a product to protect the uncoated steel parts of these chairs.

APPLICATION

Each chair received 4” (10 cm) of Cortec® VpCI®- 170 on the bottom side of the seat when shipping to Hong Kong and/or Singapore. For shorter distances, such as Canada, a spray of 10% VpCI®-609 was applied to the walls and bottoms of the shipping boxes. For export packaging, each chair was covered with a thin plastic cover, hanging loosely over the chair. The wrapped chairs were then sealed into cardboard boxes and stored in 20’ (6 m) containers.

CONCLUSION

Cortec® products provided the necessary corrosion protection the customer required. The customer was satisfied with the outcome.
