Challenge
One of the leading brands has fabricated 27 gas to liquid modules at Gulf Piping Company in Abu Dhabi for Escravos, Nigeria. After completion, the fabricated platforms were transported to Nigeria. The company was required to protect all platforms from corrosion for up to two years as they would stand idle before being commissioned into operation. Company’s original plan was for costly de-humidification and an ineffective nitrogen purging system.

When Cortec® VpCI® -337 was introduced, they recognized that by using this environmentally friendly, water-based technology they could achieve the long term multi-metal protection needed at a reduced cost; and was an easier application process that did not require monitoring.

Application
VpCI®-337 was fogged and sprayed into all equipment; including process piping, vessels, reactor drums, etc.

Conclusion
The customer was satisfied with the level of protection achieved 6 months after application. Boroscope inspections conducted on a monthly basis have shown no sign of corrosion.
