PROBLEM
Copper pipe manufactured by Outokumpu corroded easily due to an extremely humid environment. Outokumpu needed to protect the finished pipe from corrosion during shipping as well as storage.
APPLICATION
Outokumpu used VpCI®-146 paper cut into their desired size and wrapped it around the coils of copper pipe. Then they covered the coils with ordinary plastic film.
CONCLUSION
Outokumpu chose Cortec’s nitrite free VpCI®-146 paper because it effectively protects copper from oxidation. Also, Cortec® products are environmentally friendly. VpCI®-146 was effective in protecting copper from corrosion and could provide the six month protection Outokumpu needed.
