PROBLEM
The customer used over 32 gallons (120 L) of Tectyl paraffin inhibitor in the entire bus skeleton. This required the placement of 1200 quarter inch (6mm) holes throughout the chassis. A labor force of 18 men was required to drill holes and plug them after Tectyl was applied.
APPLICATION
The alternative method was to eliminate 75-80% of all holes, apply VpCI®-309 powder, plug the holes and cap/seal ends of tubes of the frame, while seeking to maintain the manufacturer’s 12 year rust free warranty.
CONCLUSION
As a result, the customer eliminated fire hazard, spillage, and the lost time required to drill holes and plug holes.
