PROBLEM
Delco Remy manufactures various parts for the automotive industry. Their previous wash process used two cleaning products. With both products, parts experienced corrosion before leaving the production facility. They needed a way to prevent corrosion from occurring on their parts.

APPLICATION
Cortec® products have been approved to be used in Delco Remy’s three stage wash. VpCI®-414 was used at a 5% concentrate in the first stage with S-16 added at 0.4% for defoaming, 100% water in the second stage, and 10% VpCI®-377 in the final stage.

CONCLUSION
Delco Remy chose Cortec® products because of their effectiveness against corrosion and because they were more environmentally friendly. Cortec’s ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications also played a factor in Delco Remy’s decision. The Cortec® system is new in Delco Remy’s process, so final results are not yet available. However, based on testing completed three months prior, they should not have any more corrosion problems.
