One of the world’s leading, privately owned armoured vehicle manufacturers. was facing flash rust issues at the initial stage of fabrication and required a solution that could remove the rust without increasing production lead time. The harsh climatic conditions of the UAE also required a best in class solution that would minimally impact Group’s current production process.

Application
Application Using the company’s existing coating equipment, CorrVerter® Rust Primer was applied to a test vehicle in July 2014. The vehicle was then stored unsheltered for 20 days and observed. Results demonstrated effective protection against corrosion. Furthermore, the topcoat bonded to CorrVerter® and no issues arose during welding on the localized steel.

Conclusion
The company chose to incorporate Cortec® CorrVerter® Rust Primer into their manufacturing process because it saved time and money by penetrating and eliminating existing rust. It provided temporary corrosion prevention against harsh climatic conditions and penetrated the bare metal, acting as a primer to the topcoat.
