Al Majed Tower

Overview
The under-construction Al Majed Tower is a commercial tower in the Marina District of Lusail. It will comprise of 4 Basement + Ground + 25 Floors + Penthouse. The total built-up area is approximately 76,986 sq. m, and the total plot area is 8,991 sq. m.

Application

The main threat to the structural integrity of buildings in this region lies in the highly saline soil and shallow groundwater. The prevalence of Sabkha in the Gulf region introduces highly corrosive mineral deposits in the soil with salinity levels exceeding three times that in seawater. To mitigate this threat, a high-performance concrete mix was used for 20,000 cu.m of Substructure concrete incorporating Cortec’s MCI® 2005 corrosion inhibitor.

Conclusion

Cortec’s patented MCI® technology protects reinforcing metal in concrete from corrosion, therefore extending its service life.
